Filipino culture and creativity took center stage during the national costume competition of Queen Universe Philippines 2026.
The 30 candidates presented costumes inspired by local traditions, festivals, landscapes, wildlife, agriculture, and community identities. The designs transformed cultural stories into elaborate stage presentations, giving each queen an opportunity to celebrate the place she represented.
Among the inspirations described in the program were the legends surrounding waterfalls, the marine heritage of island communities, Filipino agricultural life, regional festivals, the Philippine eagle, and the craftsmanship associated with different parts of the country.
Other presentations referenced the heritage of Davao, Cordova, Dumaguete, General Santos City, Isabella, Mandaue City, Moalboal, South Cotabato, and Zamboanga del Sur.
The costumes combined visual artistry with storytelling. Their designs demonstrated how traditional symbols, regional histories, and community pride could be expressed through fashion. For the queens, the segment was an opportunity to bring their hometowns to a national stage. For the audience, it was a colorful showcase of the Philippines’ cultural diversity.
